When a female teenager reaches puberty, her self-confidence plummets. At this age, girls become six times less likely to participate in sports than their male peers. This ad concentrates on one of the things that, undoubtedly, every single person, regardless of gender has heard at some point in their lives: “You throw like a girl!” Or “ you hit like a girl”. These words were thrown like daggers on the playground, usually out of the sneering mouth of a classmate. Some parents may have even said it to their children. In Always’s ad campaign, they use strong emotional appeals to empower girls, and to eliminate these phrases as negative or as an insults and to instead, demonstrate exactly how amazing it is to be a girl.
This commercial is persuasive to me because it displays the values of the company. Because this ad shows it’s support to women – something I strongly believe in, I was motivated to try Always one year ago. The product in itSelf provided the same quality as the previous brand I used, however this ad is the reason I have brand loyalty to Always now.
